Jasper Phillipsen (Alpecin Deceuninck) imposed his speed in a sprint between four to prevail in the 47th edition of the Belgian classic Bruges-De Pannewith a distance of 211 km.
In a tough race marked by cold and rain, the best sprinters in the peloton were the protagonists, and Jasper Philipsen (25 years old) stood out among all of them, who caused the decisive cuts of the day and at all times showed an ambition that led him to his third win of the season and the 26th of his career.
Philipsen beat the 21-year-old Dutchman from Jumbo Visma Olav Kooij on the finish line and to the Belgians Yves Lampaert (Soudal Quick Step) and Frederick Frison (Lotto Dstny).
On a flat course, the spectacle of the sprinters was impressive, with a battle at the beginning and a merciless fight at the end. There was a cut with 17 runners that included the best of the world’s sprinters, including Fabio Jakobsen, Jasper Philipsen, Ballerini, Lampaert, Groenewegen, Ackermann, Molano, Demare, Theuns and Olav kooij.
Philipsen was especially combative. The Belgian, forced the machine 14 kilometers from the finish line, a pull that only Kooij, Lampaert and Frison could follow. In pursuit of the foursome, sprinters the likes of Demare or Groenewegen left behind and they had no chance of winning.
Philipsen signed his exhibition with victory. Kooij was second, lampaert third and frison fourth. The winner succeeded his compatriot Tim Merlier in the list of winners.
