The 2022 edition of the Tour Colombia is canceled | Other Sports | sports

The lack of sponsorship forced the cancellation of the UCI 2.1 category competition, which had tentative dates of dispute in February 2022.

By second year in a row, the Colombian Cycling Federation (FCC) has decided to cancel the Tour Colombia 2022 due to financial reasons.

The test, which had as the last winners the Colombians Sergio Higuita (2020), Miguel Ángel López (2019) and Egan Bernal (2018), was suspended following the FCC Executive Committee meeting held last Tuesday.

The reasons are economic, in the absence of the necessary funds to carry out the race by virtue of the investments that the authorities have had to allocate on the issue of the coronavirus pandemic.

This cancellation supposes a strong impact for Colombian and international cycling, as the race had become a stage for the start of the season for many figures from the international peloton along with the Vuelta a San Juan held in Argentina. (D)
