The Forum of Athletes of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) called for the return of Russians to international tournaments. This was reported on the website of the organization.
“Athletes must have access to international competitions, including the Asian Games, without any discrimination,” the athletes said in a statement. Athletes noted that the Russians and Belarusians must comply with several conditions: to act in a neutral status and comply with anti-doping rules. In addition, officials from these countries should not be present at tournaments.
Earlier, the OCA invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in the Asian Games. The competition will be held in autumn 2023 in China.
On January 25, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It was clarified that only athletes who did not support the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will be able to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
