The owner of the Stanley Cup from the Czech Republic Hasek said that he was treated friendly in Russia
Olympic champion, two-time Stanley Cup winner Dominik Hasek spoke about the attitude towards him in Russia. His words are quoted by PrahaIN.
The Czech hockey player said that in Spartak Moscow, where he spent the 2010/2011 season, he was treated friendly. “Not just teammates. Someone invited me to the Caucasus, the other to Baikal, they were very friendly, ”the athlete recalled.
In October 2022, Hasek called on the leaders of the National Hockey League (NHL) to resign over their stance on Russia. He said that league commissioner Gary Bettman and his deputy Bill Daley showed disrespect to the Czech Foreign Ministry by allowing Russian players to play in Prague for NHL pre-season games.
Since February 28, 2022, the Russian team has not taken part in international tournaments due to sanctions from the International Ice Hockey Federation. In the NHL, the Russians continue to play without restrictions.
