With Bruno Guimarães in the starting line-up, Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest

This Friday, Newcastle visited Nottingham Forest and won 2-1 for the 28th round of the English Championship. Emmanuel Dennis opened the scoring for the home team and Isak scored twice to turn the match around.

Despite not having entered the field, this was the first game in which Gustavo Scarpa was included since his release by Nottingham Forest to solve problems related to the millionaire blow he suffered. Danilo was also on the home team’s bench and Bruno Guimarães was in the starting line-up for Newcastle.

With the result, Newcastle remains in fifth place, with 47 points, and stays in the qualification zone for the Champions League. At the moment, the club is in the qualification zone for the Europa League. Nottingham Forest, in turn, is in 14th place, with 26 points, two more than the first team in the relegation zone.

Nottingham Forest’s next Premier League commitment is against Wolverhampton, at home, on April 1st, at 11:00 am (Brasília time). Newcastle, on the other hand, returns to the field on April 2, at 12:30 pm, against Manchester United, at home.

The game

Newcastle started the duel well and controlled the pace of the match. The best chance with the scoreline came after a free kick by the visiting team and an unfortunate deflection by Brazilian Renan Lodi, who fired the ball at Keylor Navas’ crossbar. Even so, who opened the scoring was Nottingham Forest, who took advantage of a lapse in the opposing defense, generating a beautiful goal by Emmanuel Dennis, in the 25th minute.

Even before the end of the first half, Newcastle hit the crossbar once more, and, at 46 minutes, finally took their zero off the scoreboard, with Isak, after the ball hit the crossbar for the third time in the game.

After the goal and the break, Newcastle were again the best team in the game and created several dangerous opportunities in the second half. In the middle of the way, however, there was Keylor Navas, who was very demanding and made a great match. When the team’s goal finally came out in Anderson’s header in the 19th minute, VAR annulled the bid for offside.

After so much insistence, when it seemed that the draw was inevitable, Isak converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute of the final stage and killed the game in favor of Newcastle.
