“‘Vini is in an incredible moment, since last season he has been one of Real Madrid’s main players,” said Fabinho in a press conference prior to the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“On the way there, he showed why he is one of the most decisive players in football today”, added the midfielder.
“The first goal was something he pulled out of nowhere. It will be a challenge to stop him, but if we want to have chances to get through we have to leave less space for Vini and try to stop him,” he added.
Despite coming under pressure and needing to score three goals to take the duel to extra time, Fabinho considers that Liverpool “have to keep a cool head”.
“It’s not easy to come to a stadium like the Bernabeu with 3-0 against, but it’s important not to get desperate from the start. We need to score, but the most important thing is not to concede more goals”, he said.
“It’s very difficult for us, but it’s not lost”, concluded Fabinho.
