Midfielder Aaron Ramsey has been chosen as the new captain of the Wales national team following the retirement of star Gareth Bale, announced after the 2022 World Cup.
“Aaron was vice-captain after Gareth and I see this as a natural progression,” explained coach Rob Page, who is preparing the team for the duels against Croatia and Latvia later this month, at the start of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
“It’s a good opportunity for him to work with young players. It’s the right time in his career and he’s really looking forward to it,” added Page.
At 32, Ramsey currently defends the Nice, from France, after passing through European giants such as Arsenal e Juventus.
In January, Bale, who has made 111 appearances and is Wales’ top scorer, announced the end of his playing career.
