All the national teams participating in the play-off matches in the qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup have become known. The correspondent of “Lenta.ru” informs about it.
Teams from Portugal, Sweden, Wales, Czech Republic, Scotland, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Austria, North Macedonia will compete with the Russians for the tickets to the world championship. The Ukrainians also got into the joints, but they will not be determined as rivals of the Russian national team by the decision of FIFA and UEFA.
12 teams will be divided into three grids with four teams in each. In the first semifinals, seeded teams will play against unseeded teams, then the winners will compete for three tickets to the world championship. The Russian national team was among the seeded teams, so in the first round it can meet with Wales, Poland, North Macedonia, Austria or the Czech Republic.
The play-offs will take place next March. The draw will take place on 26 November.
