Skiers and biathletes from Russia refused to be admitted to the 2023 World Cup among the military in Sweden
Russian athletes refused to be allowed to the winter world championship among the military in Sweden. This was told to TASS by the representative of the organizing committee of the competition, Ulrik Hansson-Mild.
“Due to the current security situation and the situation in Ukraine, Sweden will not accept participants from Russia during this competition,” said Hansson-Mild. Thus, Russian skiers and biathletes will miss the tournament.
The World Championship will be held in Boden, Sweden from March 27 to April 1, 2023. Within the framework of the competition, awards will be drawn among men and women in cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski mountaineering and ski orienteering.
At the end of February 2022, many international sports organizations stopped allowing Russians to compete on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. In some sports, such as tennis, cycling, motorsport and chess, Russians continue to play in neutral status.
