De Bruyne denies problems with Haaland: “The team is very happy with him”

In a press conference this Monday, the midfielder of Manceshter City, Kevin De Bruyne, spoke to the press before the duel against RB Leipzig, for the Champions League. The Belgian commented on the current phase of striker Erling Haaland, who has been scoring fewer goals than at the start of the season.

“I don’t think there is any problem. I haven’t heard any complaints from the team or Erling or anyone else. The team is very happy with him and he’s very happy with us so I think it’s OK,” he said.

In last Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace, Haaland scored the team’s winning goal. Despite being the Premier League’s top scorer with 28 goals, the Norwegian is blamed by some as responsible for Manchester City’s drop in performance as a team. De Bruyne denied the possibility and defended his teammate.

“In recent years, people said that there was a lack of presence in the area, now the opposite is said. I think that at the beginning of the season, when everything was going well and we won a lot of games, nothing happened, but when you lose a few games, the same thing is said,” he explained.

This Tuesday, Haaland will have another chance to silence the critics in the second leg against RB Lepizig, for Champions League. In the first leg, the two clubs drew 1-1 in Germany. Now, Manchester City will decide the duel at home, at the Etihad Stadium, at 5 pm (Brasília time).
