MMA fighter Petr Yan will continue his career in the UFC, despite three defeats in a row
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Petr Yan will continue his career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), despite three defeats in a row. This was reported to TASS by a source.
The UFC stressed that the athlete has three more fights under the current contract, which he must hold. “He is bright, media. Now no one is going to fire him,” the source said.
Earlier on March 12, Jan lost to Georgian Merab Dvalishvili via unanimous decision. The fight took place as part of the UFC Fight Night 221 tournament in Las Vegas.
The defeat was Yan’s third in a row in the UFC. On October 22, 2022, the Russian fought against Sean O’Malley at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, losing to the American by split decision. On April 10 of the same year, Yan lost to American Aljamain Sterling for the UFC bantamweight title at the 273rd promotional tournament.
Petr Yan is a former UFC bantamweight champion. He has 16 wins and 5 losses. Dvalishvili has 16 wins and four losses.
