The deputy of EH Bildu Oskar Matute has assured that the pension reform proposed by the central Executive does not represent a “regression” for workers and pensioners but “much more must be done” and “fine tune it to incorporate more rights and dignity”.

In an interview with Radio Euskadi, the representative of the pro-sovereignty coalition referred to the pension reform proposed by the Spanish Government and the criticism leveled at it by employers.

In this sense, Matute has considered that the reform is “regressive for the interests of the employer” in such a way that “it does not represent a setback compared to what exists, which is already excessively rigorous with the workers” after having increased the period of calculation or retirement age up to 67 years.

Thus, it has stressed that this reform does not mean an “even greater setback for workers or pensioners”, but has opted for “do much more“.

“60% of pensions do not exceed 1,000 euros and mechanisms must be activated to go much faster. It is necessary that progressivity be incorporated into pensions and that matters relating to widow’s pensions be included in the reform, something that It produces a certain shame, and non-contributory pensions that do not even come close to aspiring to 1,000 euros,” he detailed. For this reason, he has advocated “refining the law” to “incorporate more rights and dignity.”

Regarding the Citizen Security Law, known by its detractors as ‘lhey gag‘, the representative of EH Bildu has warned that, if some elements such as the use of rubber balls or hot returns “do not disappear”, EH Bildu will not support the reform.
