Khabib Nurmagomedov congratulated cousin Usman on defending his Bellator title
Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov took to Instagram to praise cousin Usman Nurmagomedov, a Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) defender of the Bellator lightweight division title.
“The worst thing is that there are only 24 years old,” the athlete wrote, congratulating a relative. He attached a video from the fight to the post.
Usman Nurmagomedov defeated American Benson Henderson in the first round by submission. The fight took place in San Jose as part of the quarterfinals of the Bellator Grand Prix. Thus, the Russian reached the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.
Nurmagomedov became the promotion’s lightweight champion in November 2022. Then he defeated the Brazilian Patrick Freire at the Bellator 288 tournament by unanimous decision.
In total, Usman Nurmagomedov won 17 victories in his professional career without suffering a single defeat. Henderson now has 30 wins and 12 losses.
