The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has charged negligence against the director of the branch of the Agency for the Management and Use of Historical and Cultural Monuments (AUIPIK) in the North-Western Federal District due to the poor preservation of the Faberge jewelers’ dacha in the north of St. Petersburg.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the 47-year-old defendant knew that AUIPIK managed the cultural heritage site Faberge K.G. (A.K.)”, located in the village of Pargolovo, but did not fulfill the duties assigned to him to preserve the monument, ensure the invariance of the external appearance and the preservation of its integrity and structure.

In January, another criminal case on the facts of destruction at the Faberge dacha was opened by the police. The reason was an appeal to the prosecutor’s office, filed by the city committee for state control, use and protection of historical and cultural monuments. Representatives of the KGIOP emphasized that, under the terms of the security obligation, the restoration work at the facility should have been completed by mid-2022, but in August the committee’s inspection found that they had not been completed. The facades of the buildings were in poor technical condition, the brickwork was destroyed, the plaster layer was lost, there were traces of fire, and some of the windows and doors were missing. The whole territory of the cottage is littered with household garbage. In the interiors, specialists recorded the loss of plaster, architectural and artistic elements, and the railing of the main staircase.
