Fighter Usman Nurmagomedov defeated Henderson and defended his Bellator lightweight title
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Usman Nurmagomedov defended his Bellator lightweight title. The results are available on the promotion website.
The athlete, who is the cousin of the former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Khabib Nurmagomedov, defeated the American Benson Henderson in the first round by submission. The fight took place in San Jose as part of the quarterfinals of the Bellator Grand Prix. Thus, the Russian reached the semi-finals of the Grand Prix.
Nurmagomedov became the promotion’s lightweight champion in November 2022. Then he defeated the Brazilian Patrick Freire at the Bellator 288 tournament by unanimous decision.
In total, Usman Nurmagomedov won 17 victories in his professional career without suffering a single defeat. Henderson now has 30 wins and 12 losses.
