With Maldini’s goal, Inter loses to Spezia and can see distance for Napoli to increase

This Friday, the Inter Milan visited Spezia at the Stadio Alberto Picco, in La Spezia, for a match valid for the 26th round of the Italian Championship. The duel ended with a 2-1 victory for the home team, thanks to goals scored by Daniel Maldini, son of the idol and former Milan defender, and Nzola. Lukaku, from the penalty spot, scored for the visitors.

With the defeat, Inter Milan, which receives Juventus in the next round, remains in second place with 50 points, and may be overtaken by Lazio and see the distance to leader Napoli – which is 15 points – increase. Spezia, who visit Sassuolo in their next match, breathes a sigh of relief after the positive result, as they opened a momentary advantage of six points for the relegation zone.

Even dominating the game and finishing more than twenty times on goal, Inter Milan failed to hit the aim for scales to nets. In the 13th minute of the first half, Argentine striker Lautáro Martínez missed a penalty that, during the course of the match, was costly.

In the second half, in one of their few attacks, the home team managed to open the scoring. Daniel Maldini received it at the entrance to the area and finished first, hitting a beautiful shot in the right corner of goalkeeper Handanovic.

In the 38th minute, in a penalty kick, the Belgian Lukaku tied the match. Although it seems that, by the volume of the game, Inter Milan would get the comeback, that is not what happened. A few minutes later, at 42 minutes, the referee awarded another penalty in the game, this time to Spezia. Nzola went to charge and converted, closing the account.
