The Argentine Fernando Batista will be the new coach of the selection of the Venezuelawith the mission of commanding the team in the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, informed the Venezuelan Football Federation (FVF) this Friday, two days after the announcement of the departure of José Pekerman.

“Today I’m here to announce who will be at the head of our national team: it will be Fernando Batista”, FVF president Jorge Giménez said at a press conference.
Batista, 52, was Pekerman’s assistant. He takes over Vinotinto on a four-year contract, explained Giménez, and will make his debut in charge of the team in a friendly against Saudi Arabia on March 24 in Jeddah.
The new coach will be accompanied by several members of the previous coaching staff: the Argentines Leandro Cufré and Jorge Pidal and the Venezuelan Vicente Rosales.
