Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin renounces WBA world title

Kazakhstani boxer Gennady Golovkin refused the world middleweight title according to the World Boxing Association (WBA Super). This is reported in Twitter organizations.

“Golovkin has officially relinquished his championship title and will not compete in the mandatory bout scheduled by the WBA,” the organization said in a statement. It is noted that the new owner of the title was the Cuban Erislandy Lara.

Golovkin became WBA champion in April 2022. Then he defeated the Japanese Ryota Murata. The meeting ended with a technical knockout in the ninth round.

The 40-year-old Golovkin has 42 wins (37 of which by knockout), two losses and one draw. In February, he also relinquished his World Boxing Federation (IBF) world title.
