Russian organizers of the 2018 World Cup responded to accusations of British bribery of FIFA

The general director of the organizing committee of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Alexei Sorokin commented on the accusations of the British media of bribery by the Russian side of the International Football Federation (FIFA). His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Sorokin said he denied any accusations against the organizers. “In fact, this is already developing into some kind of grotesque. There is no longer any strength to comment on such news, we have already said everything on this topic many times. Apparently, they have nothing to write about at all! ” He replied.

Earlier on November 16, British journalist Nick Harris wrote in Twitterthat the choice of the host country for the World Cup in Russia allegedly had a serious corruption component.

FIFA recognized the 2018 World Cup as the best in the history of the tournament. The French national team became the winner of the World Cup. The domestic national team at the tournament made it to the quarterfinals.

Russia won the right to host the World Cup following a vote on December 2, 2010 in Zurich, Switzerland, having won in the second round. On its organization, according to the organizing committee, 688 billion rubles were spent.
