French striker Karim Benzema of Real Madridis a doubt for Saturday’s game against Espanyol in LaLiga, after not having trained with the group during the week.
According to sources at the Meringue club, Benzema’s presence against the Catalans may depend on how he will perform in Friday’s activity.
In a statement, Real Madrid reported that the striker had done “specific work inside the facilities”, while the local press reports that he suffers from ankle pain.
Real Madrid, second in LaLiga, nine points behind leaders Barcelona, faces Espanyol on Saturday, four days before hosting Liverpool in the second leg of the round of 16 of the European Champions League (victory by 5-2 in the first leg ).
The week will end for the merengue team with the superclássico against Barça on March 19, at the Camp Nou.
