The Russian defender of Lokomotiv Nair Tiknizyan decided to play for the Armenian national team. This was reported on the website of the Moscow team.
The footballer has been called up by the coaching staff of the Armenian national team for the 2024 European Championship qualification match against Turkey. The game will be held on March 25 in Yerevan.
“I am grateful to the federation of Armenia for the given chance. I will try to prove my worth on the field in the T-shirt of the national team,” Tiknizyan said. He added that the initiative to represent Armenia fully belongs to him.
Tiknizyan was born in St. Petersburg, played for the junior and youth teams of Russia. This season, the 23-year-old has played 18 matches for Lokomotiv in the Russian Premier League, scoring one goal and making two assists.
