“Ten years ago I stepped on a sewing needle.” She heard a shocking diagnosis. The recording went viral

It all started with an innocent Snapchat video that 23-year-old Rebecca Hiller shared only with her friends. She recorded a short video from the doctor’s office, which she later decided to publish on TikTok and Instagram. The video gained a total of 10 million viewers. The young woman did not expect such reactions.

The influencer went to the doctor because she was afraid that for the last ten years her foot had been stuck … a sewing needle.

Ten years ago, I stepped on a sewing needle in my basement and only got half of it out

– announced the tiktoker.

But recently half of my foot is going numb. I feel a strange pain and think that the other half of the needle, which I believe remains in my foot, is being pushed out

she added.

The video from the doctor’s office quickly circulated the network. When X-rays failed to detect the alleged needle in the 23-year-old’s foot, observers theorized that the object might have “moved from her foot to another part of her body.”

It was just the beginning of a whole avalanche of questions and comments from which tiktokerka can’t get away to this day. As she mentioned in an interview with “Insider”, she still finds it hard to believe that the video she published caused so many extreme reactions.

Some time later, Hiller decided to record another video dedicated to the results of the study. The 23-year-old was referred to a podiatrist. She had to wait a week for a consultation.

Rebecca said that during this time, Internet users almost drove her to the brink of paranoia. Followers bombarded her with questions daily, demanding daily updates. Tiktokerka even used the term “persecuted”.

The 23-year-old admitted that it was hard for her to cope with the fuss that had arisen around her health problem. She added that some were downright “bad” and wished her the worst solution.

Finally, the tiktoker revealed the latest diagnosis and treatment plan. He was found to have a needle scar, which most likely led to two neuromas or benign growths of nerve tissue between his toes. The doctor prescribed eight rounds of injection therapy, topical blood, and a custom brace.

“I thought I was special”

In an interview with “Insider”, Rebecca admitted that when she first published her story on social media, she did not expect it to attract so many people. The case seemed to her simply interesting and strange at the same time. However, she admitted she was shocked that it was a much more common problem than she initially thought.

I thought I was special, but so many people have stepped on glass, a sewing needle or a piece of metal

– she said.

Since posting the aforementioned videos, her account has seen a significant increase in followers – and it’s worth noting that before that, Rebecca was only posting fashion-related content. Recently, however, there has been a decline in the popularity of her profile again.

“The real ones stay, the foot fetishists go,” she sneered.

Express popularity

The 23-year-old said that quickly gaining popularity in this way is a complicated experience. When she shared her first foot X-ray video, people she didn’t know from the Internet began to demand her to show the original test results and x-ray scans.

People felt they owed me answers. When I’m just a random girl who thought I was sharing some stupid thing that happened

– she said.

At first, she found the sudden rise in popularity exciting, but soon began to feel its negative effects.

When I got comments demanding answers, I became very concerned because I thought, ‘These people are mad at me and I’m doing something wrong.’

she said.

In addition, Internet users began to criticize her massively for not taking care of her problem earlier and made fatalistic visions about diseases, which caused Rebekah a lot of stress. The woman also received messages from haters.

Currently, interest in her medical history has subsided somewhat, but the questions still persist.

“As for the sewing needle, I either pulled it all out when I was thirteen or it moved elsewhere,” she said in one of her latest TikTok videos. She constantly monitors her health under the care of doctors and tries, as she said, to calm her nerves. “I think I just watched too much Grey’s Anatomy,” she added.
