Casa Pia disappoints in the second half and turns on Paços de Ferreira for the Portuguese

After a sequence of negative results, Casa Pia won again in the Portuguese Championship this Monday, when they defeated Paços de Ferreira by 2 to 1, in the comeback, for the 23rd round. Playing at home, at Estádio Pina Manique, the team was behind, but scored with Jóbson, against, and Fernando Varela. Paulo Bernardo scored for the visitors.

The result took Casa Pia to sixth place in the competition, with 35 points, and ended a streak of four games without a win. The team returns to the field next Monday, at 5:15 pm (Brasília time), to face Famalicão away from home.

Paços de Ferreira, in turn, remained at the bottom of the Portuguese, with only 12 points conquered in the 23 matches played so far. The team, which has three wins this season in the national championship, faces Santa Clara in the next round, at 12:30 pm on Saturday.

The goals of the game

Paços de Ferreira took the lead with a great goal in the added time of the first half, in the 48th minute. After a long shot towards the edge of the area, Adrián Butzke headed in for Paulo Bernardo. Even from a long way away, the 21-year-old midfielder risked finishing and, without letting the ball fall, hit the drawer of the hosts.

Casa Pia’s comeback began in the 21st minute of the second half, when Maracás scored an own goal. In an attempt to cut a low cross from the left, the Brazilian defender ended up deflecting it against his own goal and left everything the same. At 30 minutes, Felippe Cardoso made an effort to prevent the exit through the bottom line and sent it to the area. Fernando Varela played for the goal, but stopped in the goalkeeper’s defense. On the rebound, he even pushed for the goal, 2 to 1.
