Inter beats Lecce at the San Siro and resumes second place in the Italian Championship

For the 25th round of the Italian Championship, Inter Milan defeated Lecce at home by 2-0 this Sunday. At San Siro, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Lautaro Martínez scored in the victory that returned vice-leadership to the Nerazzurri.

Inter reached 50 points in the Italian Serie A and took second place in the table, overtaking Lazio. However, the distance to leader Napoli remains at 15 points. Lecce, on the other hand, dropped to 15th place, with 27 points.

Despite not playing brilliant football, Inter were better in the match and did not give chances for a new stumble in the competition, as they did in the last round when they lost to Bologna. Lautaro Martínez led the team and scored his 14th goal in the Serie A.

On the counterattack in the 28th minute, Gosens shot down the left side and crossed for Barella to arrive at the edge of the area. The Italian had the option of taking chances on goal, but he had the coolness to clear the marking and roll to Mkhitaryan, who hit a beautiful shot to open the scoring.

In the second half, at eight minutes, Dumfries received on the right end and led to the bottom line. The winger crossed to the middle of the area where Lautaro Martínez hit first and extended the advantage.

Lecce tried to react in search of a goal, but Inter’s defense got the better of it and secured a 2-0 victory at home. In the next round, the nerazzuri face Lecce away from home, on Friday, from 4:45 pm (Brasília time).
