Odoxa: 72 percent of the French voted for the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympics
Odoxa conducted a survey among the French about the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The results are cited by L’Équipe.
According to the source, 72 percent of the country’s residents voted for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the competition. It is noted that 28 percent of those polled are in favor of allowing Russia with a flag and anthem, and 44 percent believe that Russians should compete in a neutral status.
On February 20, it was reported that about 30 countries sent a letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) against the return of Russian athletes to competitions. It was clarified that the position on this issue would not change until the criteria for the neutrality of athletes for participation in tournaments were established.
The IOC is considering the possibility of admitting Russians to the 2024 Games in a neutral status, but there is no final decision on this issue. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
