Ovechkin named the first star of the week in the NHL

Russian striker Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin named the first star of the week in the National Hockey League (NHL). This was reported on the league’s website.

The 36-year-old striker has led the trio of the best hockey players of the week. In second place is Boston Bruins defensive player Charlie McAvoy, while Eaheim Ducks striker Troy Terry is in third place.

Ovechkin took part in four NHL games last week. In them, he scored eight points: he scored two goals and six assists.

With the 742th goal, the Russian finished fourth on the list of the best snipers in NHL history. He bypassed the eminent American hockey player Brett Hull.

Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. He helped the Capitals win the Stanley Cup for the first time in club history. Before moving to the United States, the Russian played for the capital “Dynamo”.
