Cazoo Baskonia beat Valencia Basket 114-75 on Friday March 3 at the 26th day of the Euroleague which was played at the Buesa Arena. The Vitoria-Gasteiz team was superior to its rival on a night in which Daulton Hommes had a stellar performance with 31 rating.

The clash began with a lot of rhythm and with a lot of scoring on both sides of the field and a lot of influence from the Basque and Taronja point guards. The two squads danced to the sound of Chris Jones and Darius Adams, but it was the Valencians who took the first steps thanks to the outside success, until Baskonia adjusted their defense to endorse a 9-0 lead that turned the game around with a great Daulton Hommes. The first round ended with a 27-24 for the locals after a triple session that left Joan Peñarroya’s men ahead.

The outside success from beyond the arc marked the start of the second assault led by five points from Vanja Marinkovic that made Baskonia achieve the maximum lead of the moment, 36-28. Darius Thompson and Vanja Marinkovic took the scoring baton to face the seven Valencian three-pointers in the first half, which kept them in the game. The Barça point guard led the end of the first half and brought out the colors of the Levantine defense with eight points almost in a row that sent the clash to the changing rooms with a 57-48.

Baskonia put one more gear at the start of the second half and with an 8-2 lead opened an important gap, product of the intensity printed by Joan Peñarroya’s men. The azulgranas correctly read their rival’s defensive changes and increased their lead to 22 points, which the pride of Jared Harper left in a 81-64 with ten minutes to go.

The start of the last quarter served to break the clash by Baskonia against a disoriented Valencia Basket, who was unable to find his place in the game and it did not work either with Shannon Evans, who jumped onto the court in the last quarter, with everything decided . The locals did not lift their foot off the accelerator and destroyed the Valencians with triples until the final 114-75.
