Czech cyclist Katerina Nash escaped doping charges thanks to her dog
Czech cyclist Katerina Nash escaped a four-year suspension for using a banned drug. This was reported on the website of the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
In October 2022, the athlete tested positive for the appetite stimulant capromorelin, but Nash got away with it thanks to her dog. The athlete stated that she orally gave the drug to a pet.
USADA conducted an investigation, as a result of which it was possible to find out that capromorelin can enter the human body through skin contact. Nash also provided the veterinarian’s prescription for her dog. As a result, the charges against the cyclist were dropped.
Capromorelin is not on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned substance list, but is banned by USADA and the International Cycling Union (UCI) rules.
