The tennis player said that the Tennis Federation of Ukraine (FTR) recommended that he not play in tandem with Russian Yan Bondarevsky, but he continued to perform. “I played a couple with my friend – nationality does not matter to me. In my opinion, a person should be judged for his actions, and not for his nationality,” Prikhodko said.

In the spring, Russian tennis players were banned from playing in tournaments in the UK. Due to sanctions, domestic athletes were forced to miss Wimbledon.

Russian and Belarusian tennis players play at tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals and the Women’s Tennis Association in a neutral status.
