Independiente del Valle has become the proud team of Ecuador, they have won two South American Cups and last Tuesday they won the Recopa.
At the legendary Maracana stadium, Martín Anselmi’s team won the precious trophy by defeating Flamengo, the current Libertadores de América champion, on penalties (5-4).
The international achievements of those from Sangolquí have captivated fans, leaders and others associated with football, for example they have the striped team.
From Colombia, Brazilian Pablo Autori, coach of Atlético Nacional, with extensive experience in leading teams from his country and even teams like Peru and Qatar, highlighted the process that the tricolor team had.
Is Atlético Nacional becoming like Independiente del Valle to achieve something with young people?, the 66-year-old strategist was asked.
“We are far because how many years has Independiente del Valle been working with the same process? He changed coaches, but in his selection process, the coach has the same characteristics of the club, not the coach,” he clarified at the press conference.
“In recent years, there have been many different changes of ideas, because the coach’s idea cannot be above the club’s idea. When I came, I was clear and said that I and the institution must build together. Not built yet. You have to have a balance,” he added.
“We are far from that reason, they have four or five years with the same idea,” Autuori insisted, describing what the Ecuadorian team has done in recent seasons as exemplary.
Atlético Nacional was the champion of the Copa Libertadores in 2016 precisely in the final they played against those from Sangolquí. (D)
