Murat Gassiev knocked out Balogun and won the WBA Inter-Continental championship belt
Russian boxer Murat Gassiev defeated American Mike Balogun at a tournament in Armenia. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
The fight took place in Yerevan. Gassiev won by knockout in the second round and won the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight championship belt. This fight was the first for him after returning to this weight category.
On March 2, the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia reported that Gassiev received an Armenian passport. It was clarified that the boxer was not going to renounce Russian citizenship.
On August 27 last year, Gassiev defeated American Carlous Welch 1 minute 35 seconds after the start of the first round. Thus, the Russian won the third consecutive fight in the heavyweight category.
Gassiev has won 30 fights (23 of them by knockout) and one defeat in professional boxing. Balogun has 20 victories and one defeat.
