Leaders Napoli fall to Lazio and lose first home of the season

This Friday, the Lazio visited the Napoli and won the match 1-0 in the Italian Championship. Matías Vecino scored the goal of the game in the second half.

That was Napoli’s first home defeat of the season and the team’s first defeat since January 4, when the Neapolitans lost to Internazionale, also 1-0.

With the favorable result, Lazio momentarily reaches the vice-leadership of the Italian, with 48 points, and holds Napoli at 65 points at the top of the table.

Napoli’s next match for Serie A is against Atalanta, away from home, on March 11, at 2 pm (Brasília time). Lazio, on the other hand, is committed to the round of 16 of the Conference League, at home. The Italian team plays the first leg against Alkmaar Zaanstreek, from the Netherlands, on Tuesday, at 2:45 pm.

The game

Lazio started the game with more danger and almost scored early in the match, if not for Di Lorenzo’s save on top of the line. However, much of the first half was led by Napoli, who had more ball possession and finished more on goal. At the end of 45 minutes, the score remained unchanged.

In the second half, the match was fairly balanced until the 22nd minute, when Matías Vecino opened the scoring for Lazio with a beautiful shot from outside the area. After that, Napoli went for it, took a lot of danger and had a lot of ball possession until the end. Even with so many chances to draw, the home team did not equal the score and was left without a point in the round.
