O Uruguay released on Thursday night the call-up for the friendly matches for the next FIFA date, at the end of March. The big surprise was the absence of big names, such as forwards Edinson Cavani and Luis Suárez, defender Martín Cáceres and goalkeeper Fernando Muslera.
Diego Godín was also a notable absence, but the defender has already said that his cycle with the Uruguayan national team will probably come to an end after the World Cup.
On the other hand, seven players who play in Brazilian football were called by Marcelo Broli, Uruguay’s interim coach. They are the full-backs Varela (Flamengo), Piquérez (Palmeiras) and Pumita Rodríguez (Vasco), midfielders Arrascaeta (Flamengo) and Canobbio (Atheltico-PR), midfielder Carballo (Grêmio) and striker Thiago Borbas (Red Bull Bragantino) .
