Russian MV2S Racing driver Vyacheslav Gutak said it was sad to compete without a flag
The Russian racer of the French team MV2S Racing Vyacheslav Gutak, in a commentary to Lente.ru, appreciated the performance under a neutral flag on the world stage.
“Of course, it’s sad to perform without a flag when the anthem of a country other than yours is playing. But how else? I see only three ways: either you don’t perform, or you perform under the license of some Spain or Kyrgyzstan, or under a neutral flag, but everyone knows that you are Russian. It seems to me that the latter is best, ”the athlete shared.
Gutak added that the athletes have no choice. “The lack of a flag is not something that stops, especially in a sport like racing. It’s already not easy for us, because in order to ride, we need to solve many different issues, for example, with sponsors. Saying goodbye to a career because of the flag seems absurd. We are athletes and have been working for many years to be where we are, ”said the rider.
MV2S Racing competes in the endurance races of the Asian Le Mans series. Gutak moved to the team this season, the rider’s partners were the French Jerome de Sadeler and Fabien Lavergne. The team stopped a step away from the championship title. The Russian debuted at Le Mans in 2022 as part of the G-Drive Racing team.
