Dani Alves takes physical exams and cites “privilege” in returning to Barcelona: “I’m still in shock”

Daniel Alves performed physical examinations at the Barcelona this Monday and then talked about returning to the Spanish club. The full-back, who classifies his return to the team as a “privilege”, described his feeling about wearing Barça’s shirt again.

“I’m still in shock. As I said publicly, I had been trying to get back for a long time. Now, getting back to working with people who know me on and off the field is a pleasure, a privilege. I usually say there are two shirts I wear and feel like a superhero: from Brazil and from Barcelona. Going back to wearing this shirt for me is an extra boost of strength, of adrenaline. I hope I can infect my teammates with all this,” he told Barça TV.

“The most beautiful moments I experienced in football were at Barcelona. My home is here in Barcelona, my family lives in Barcelona. It was inevitable to return. The pleasant surprise is coming back as a player. If not, I would come back because it is a city that fascinates me, that I love”, he added.

Finally, the 38-year-old player sent a message to fans: “We have to believe. We are at Barcelona, it is the best club in the world. I can guarantee that to them, as it often sounds like demagoguery to say that we are the best. But I’ve been out, I know what I’m saying. It’s the best club in the world. Like Barça there isn’t. It’s not about being here. Those who left know what I’m saying. That’s why being here is a great honor.”

Daniel Alves had been without a club since September, when he terminated with the São Paulo. It was announced by Barcelona last Friday after the approval of the new coach, idol Xavi Hernández. The presentation of the right-back is scheduled for next Wednesday, at 10:00 am (GMT).
