After Vinícius Júnior suffered racist insults in a game against Mallorca, the fan responsible for the insults was punished this Tuesday. After the Spanish police identified the author of the insults, a commission against intolerance in sport released the sentence for the accused, according to the Brand.
In a statement, it was reported that a fine of 4,000 euros (R$ 22,169 at current exchange rates) was imposed on the fan. In addition, he was also banned from attending the club’s sports grounds within the 12-month period.

The case took place on February 5, in the confrontation between Mallorca and Real Madrid at the Son Moix stadium, for the Spanish Championship. At the time, Vinicius Júnior, striker of the visiting team, was the target of racist insults by the local fans, being called a “monkey”.
After investigation, one of the fans was identified through the transmission cameras uttering the curses against the Brazilian. The Spanish police even proposed a fine of 3,000 euros and a six-month ban on visiting Mallorca’s facilities for the accused, but his final penalty was even greater.
Real Madrid returns to the field this Thursday, in a duel valid for the semifinals of the Copa del Rey. Carlo Ancelotti’s charges face Barcelona in the first leg. Vinícius Júnior should start the decisive game as a starter.
