The International Football Federation (FIFA) has named the best players of 2022. The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony was broadcast on the organization’s website.
Argentine striker Lionel Messi was named the best football player of the year. The prize for the best goalkeeper of the year went to another Argentine – Emiliano Martinez. The title of the best coach was received by Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni.
In December, Messi was named the best player of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In just seven games, the Argentinean scored seven goals and made three assists.
In the World Cup final, the Argentina national team defeated France and won the trophy for the third time in history. The main time of the match ended with the score 2:2. In extra time, the teams scored one more goal. In the penalty shootout, Argentina turned out to be stronger – 4: 2.
