Putin decided to award the actor with the Order of Friendship, which is awarded to those who contribute to the improvement of the country’s international relations. The appointment is established by decree.

Seagal has been pro-Russian for years, from the annexation of Crimea to the current conflict with Ukraine. As reported by Russian portals, the actor is working on a documentary about the ongoing war, and he just visited eastern Ukraine in August.
