Sport24: Roman Kostomarov will come out of a coma from two days to a week
Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov is gradually coming out of a state of drug-induced sleep. Details about the condition of the athlete became known to Sport24.
According to the source, the athlete had a microstroke, after which he was put into a drug-induced sleep for 72 hours. “Now there is a long stage of “waking up”. It lasts from two days to a week. Until it fully wakes up, it is impossible to draw conclusions. Doctors are waiting and monitoring his condition,” the source said.
Earlier, on February 26, information appeared that after problems with spasms of cerebral vessels, Kostomarov was gradually coming to his senses. It was noted that his performance is stable, without deterioration. At the same time, it was previously reported that doctors were not ready to bring the skater out of an artificial coma.
On February 20, the SHOT Telegram channel reported that a quarter of Kostomarov’s brain was affected due to hemorrhage and hematoma in the frontal lobe. Later, doctors said that there was no severe cerebral edema.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. The figure skater underwent several limb amputations. According to Telegram channels 112 and Mash, Kostomarov’s left foot was amputated, as well as several fingers on both hands.
