RUSADA explained the appeal against the decision on the innocence of Valieva

RUSADA stated that the side of Kamila Valieva could not prove the complete absence of her guilt

General Director of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova explained the appeal against the decision of the disciplinary committee to find figure skater Kamila Valieva not guilty of an anti-doping rule violation. Her words are quoted by TASS.

According to Loginova, the side of the athlete could not prove the complete absence of her guilt. At the same time, RUSADA stated that Valieva’s guilt was minimal, and a warning could be a reasonable sanction.

Earlier, on February 24, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) registered appeals against the verdict in the Valieva case by RUSADA, the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). WADA called for the athlete to be disqualified for four years from the date of the decision, to cancel her results starting December 25, 2021, and to deprive her of all medals and prize money.

On January 13, the RUSADA disciplinary committee, which is an independent body from the main organization, informed WADA that Valieva was not guilty of an anti-doping rule violation. At the same time, the figure skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022.

At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, CAS allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
