Revealed at the base of Sunderland, Jordan Pickford stood out as a starter in the Premier League of 2016/2017 and was called up by the England national team for games of the World Cup in Russia. In the following season, Everton paid almost 30 million euros to hire the goalkeeper and he has been one of the team’s highlights ever since.
“This contract will see me spend more than 10 years at Everton and I want to build a legacy here. Perhaps it could put me alongside players like Neville Southall, one of the best goalkeepers to ever play for Everton,” Pickford told Everton TV.
At the age of 28, Jordan Pickford has already played more than 220 games for Everton and wore the England shirt in 50 matches. The goalkeeper was a starter in the selection at the 2018 World Cups in Russia and in 2022 in Qatar, in addition to Euro 2020.
Everton occupies 16th place in the English Championship, with 21 points, one more than West Ham, which opens the relegation zone. The Toffees board changed the coach after the poor performance and replaced Frank Lampard with Sean Dyche. In the last round, Everton beat Leeds at home by 1-0.
“The last few seasons haven’t been what we wanted but now we have a manager who I believe will put us in the right direction,” added Pickford.
