Zhulin assessed the chances of a CAS acquittal in the Valieva case

Zhulin said that the chances of a CAS acquittal in Valieva’s case are very small

Honored coach of Russia in figure skating Alexander Zhulin assessed the chances of an acquittal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the case of Russian woman Kamila Valieva. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

“I think our chances are very small. Because, in my opinion, it is clear what is happening in the world now and where everything is moving, ”said Zhulin. He added that Russia is currently recognized as an aggressor country by a large number of states.

On February 21, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) filed an appeal with CAS. The organization called RUSADA’s conclusions incorrect and called for Valiyeva to be suspended for four years. The International Skating Union (ISU) did the same.

On January 13, RUSADA informed WADA that Valieva did not violate any anti-doping rules. At the same time, the skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022.

At the 2022 Games, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, CAS allowed Valieva to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
