The Polish prosecutor’s office accused a Russian permanently residing in the republic of espionage. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press secretary of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gdansk, Grazhina Vavryniuk.
It is reported that the accused lived in Poland for many years, was engaged in entrepreneurial activities, and participated in groups of historical reconstruction. According to investigators, he tried to establish contacts with local military personnel.
“Based on the materials collected by the Military Counterintelligence Service and the materials collected during the investigation, it was established that he participated in the activities of the Russian military intelligence in extracting and collecting information about the Polish Armed Forces,” Wawrynyuk said.
According to her, the data concerned the location of individual military units, their organizational structure, actual staffing, command and control structure, soldiers’ pay, as well as the details of the armament of individual units, the type of equipment and weapons used, the rules for communication and interaction of troops.
The man was detained in April 2022. In recent months he has been under arrest. The defendant faces up to 10 years in prison.
