Brazil loses to the United States and ends participation in the SheBelieves Cup

A Brazilian Team female faced the USA this Wednesday, for the third and final round of the SheBelieves Cup. At Toyota Stadium, in Frisco, Texas (USA), Brazil lost 2-1 and the North Americans confirmed the title.

The Brazilians finished the SheBelieves Cup in fourth and last place, with three points, added in the 1-0 victory over Japan. In addition to this Wednesday’s defeat, the team also lost to Canada, 2-0, in the second round.

The next official commitment of the Brazilian women’s team will be on April 6th. The Brazilians travel to London, England, to face the english selection in Wembley, for the 2023 Women’s Final. The tournament is played annually between the champion teams of the Copa América and the Eurocopa.

Brazil will compete for the trophy for having won the 2022 Copa America, in which defeated Colombia 1-0 in the final. England, in turn, became European champions by beating Germany 2-1 in last year’s Euro Cup final.

The game

The first big chance of the match happened in the 25th minute of the first half. Horan received it on the right of the penalty area and crossed low to the first post. Alex Morgan threw herself to finish, but, unbalanced, sent the Brazilian goal to the right.

Alex Morgan scored for the first time in the 44th minute, when he was launched between the defenders and touched between Lorena’s legs, but the move was canceled for offside. Shortly after, however, the attacker scored again, this time in a valid play. At 47 minutes, shirt number 13 took advantage of a ball hit at the entrance to the area and finished with a lot of category from the half-moon. The Brazilian goalkeeper stretched, but was unable to deflect the shot into the drawer, 1-0.

Brazil came back better in the second stage and at 3 minutes scared the North Americans. Adriana received it at the entrance to the area and took a risk for the goal, but the ball exploded on the crossbar. Despite the Brazilian improvement, the United States managed to increase the advantage. At 17, Pugh positioned himself well behind the opposing defense and received a free kick at the edge of the area. The striker straightened up and played very calmly in the right corner of Lorena.

Shortly before the end of the game, at 44, the Brazilian team managed to score their goal. Bruninha received it at the entrance to the area and crossed on the second beam. Ludmila went up and headed the American goalkeeper without chances.
