O Flamengo left behind in the decision of the Recopa Sudamericana. This Tuesday, the Reds lost 1-0 to Independiente del Valle, from Ecuador, 1-0, in Quito.
The hosts were superior, especially in the second half, and reached the goal with Carabajal. Flamengo wasted some opportunities in the initial stage, but did not have a good performance.
The return match will be next Tuesday, at Maracanã, and the Red-Blacks need to win by two goals difference to keep the title.

The game
Flamengo created the first good chance with 4 minutes of rolling ball. David Luiz took advantage of the corner kick, kept the ball and kicked Ramírez to a good save. Independiente Del Valle responded on long-range shots by Pellerano.
The home team had more possession of the ball, but struggled to create good chances. Flamengo tried to advance in the counterattacks, without success. The Ecuadorians scared in Sornoza’s kick. The Carioca response came next, with Gabriel. The attacker was released, but finished on top of Ramírez.
The panorama of the match followed the same. The red-blacks had another opportunity to open the scoring in the 41st minute. Gabriel was launched and touched on Ramírez’s exit, but the goalkeeper managed to deflect the ball and send it to a corner. Thus, the duel continued the same until the break.
In the second half, Independiente del Valle came back better and started to put pressure on Flamengo. The Ecuadorians created a good chance in the 14th minute, with a free kick by Sornoza, who stopped in a great defense by Santos. Afterwards, it was Carabajal’s turn to scare with a header.
With so much insistence, the hosts reached the goal in the 23rd minute. In another ball in the area, Carabajal headed for the net.
The setback was felt by Flamengo, who saw Independiente del Valle increase the pressure. The owners of the house reached the net again, with Basso, after a failure by goalkeeper Santos. However, the goal was canceled out by a tap on the Ecuadorian player’s hand.
Flamengo, little by little, tried to balance the match, but without success. Independiente del Valle continued to improve and almost reached the second with Faravelli, but Santos prevented it with good defense.
In the final minutes, the cariocas had one more man after Ortiz was expelled for slapping David Luiz. Flamengo still tried to seek a tie, but stopped at the Ecuadorian defense.
