Brighton dropped one place in the Premier League table losing at home to Fulham in the 24th round, in a must-win game to escape the Cottagers and remain in contention for the fifth place that gives access to the UEFA Europa League, which is still in the hands of Tottenham.

With 35 points, the Seagulls are now in seventh place in the table, below Fulham (sixth, 38 points), Newcastle (fifth, 41 points) and Spurs (42 points).

Manchester United (third, 49 points) edged closer to a return to the UEFA Champions League after beating Leicester 3-0 to move 8 points clear of Newcastle, who left the ‘champions zone’ beaten by Tottenham who won 2-0 in their last game against West Ham in the London derby.

Spurs are one point clear of Newcastle, who lost 2-0 at Liverpool on Saturday, and are seven behind United.

For its part, the defeat against West Ham (eighteenth, 20 points) leaves the team led by David Moyes in a relegation position.

Next up for Brighton, featuring Ecuadorian Moisés Caicedo, Pervis Estupiñán and Jeremy Sarmiento, is against Stoke City in the FA Cup on Tuesday, February 28.
