Valuev said that Wladimir Klitschko did not study the principles of Olympism, speaking out against Russia
State Duma deputy, former heavyweight boxing world champion Nikolai Valuev answered the Ukrainian Vladimir Klitschko, who opposed the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“Klitschko’s quote once again confirms that he did not bother to study the main principles of Olympism. Perhaps there was no desire while doing big sports, ”he said.
Valuev stressed that the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, does not represent anyone’s interests, but fights for Olympic principles.
On February 18, Klitschko made accusations against the IOC because of the support of Russian athletes. He stated that Bach represents Russian interests, not Olympic values.
The IOC is considering the possibility of admitting Russians to the 2024 Olympic Games in a neutral status, but there is no final decision on this issue. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
