With one less, Bayern is defeated by Monchengladbach and may lose leadership of the German

This Saturday, for the 21st round of the German Championship, the Bayern Munchen lost 3-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach, away from home, at Borussia-Park. Stindl, Hofmann and Thuram scored the home team’s goals, while Choupo-Moting and Tel scored for the defending champions.

With the result, Bayern remained at the top of the Bundesliga, with 43 points. However, the Bavarians can be overtaken by Union Berlin this Sunday, if the team from the capital wins Schalke 04. The next confrontation of the German giant is precisely against the second place, next Sunday (26).

Monchengladbach reached 29 points in the competition and jumped to eighth place. The team’s next duel will be against Mainz, on Friday (24).

The game

Just eight minutes into the first half, Bayern had a player expelled. Plea pulled a counterattack and was fouled by Upamecano, who was the last man. The referee didn’t even need VAR’s help and expelled the French defender.

With one more, Monchengladbach didn’t take long to open the scoring. In a rehearsed move, Hoffman played for Stindl to kick from outside the area, scoring the first goal of the match at thirteen minutes.

Even though they were behind the scoreboard, Bayern managed to resist the pressure from the home team and reacted. Davies started on the left and played for Choupo-Moting, who pushed into the net and tied the match, at 35 minutes.

Already in the second stage, Monchengladhbach managed to get ahead again. At 10 minutes, Plea received a deep pass and rolled it to Hofmann, who completed it for the back of the net.

With the negative result, Bayern even tried to seek a tie, but ended up giving more space to the home team. At 39, Hofmann started on the right and touched in the area for Thuram, who scored the third for Monchengladbach.

Already in the additions, Lainer cut the cross wrong and gave the ball in the foot of Davies. The Bayern player played for Tel, who only needed to take the ball off the goalkeeper to reduce the defeat.
