UEFA will give Russia the lowest number of points in the ranking at the end of the 2022/2023 season
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) commented on Russia’s lack of points in the ranking for the 2022/2023 season. This was reported on the website of the organization.
“At the end of the 2022/2023 season, Russia will receive the smallest amount of points earned in a season over the past five years,” UEFA said in a statement. Thus, in the men’s rating of Russia, 4.333 points will be awarded, in the women’s – 1.750 points.
On February 8, an updated UEFA rating was released, in which Russia dropped from 18th to 23rd place. Over the past five years, domestic clubs have received 21,882 points. If Russia had received the promised points, it would not have lost its position in the ranking.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
