Tributes for the ‘Pelusa’ Diego Armando Maradona during the finals in Montevideo of the Conmebol tournaments

World soccer star Diego Armando Maradona, who died on November 25, 2020, will be honored during the week that Montevideo will host the final of the Libertadores, Sudamericana and Libertadores women’s cups.

According to a document presented by Conmebol, in which the main activities that fans who come to the capital of the South American country can carry out are detailed, on November 24 “a tribute will be paid to one of the greatest footballers of the history ”, recalling the anniversary of his death.

In addition, fans will be able to enjoy many other events that will be held in Faro de Punta Carretas, a place located on the coast of Montevideo where the Embassy of the Fan will be set up.

The first of these will be on Thursday, November 18, and the last on Friday, November 26 of the same month. Live shows, a game of stars, another of South American legends and a fireworks show will be some of the activities.

Also ‘the Conmebol Talks’, where fans can “talk and exchange opinions with great figures of entertainment and South American football.”

They will be the Argentine soccer player Fabiana Vallejos, the Argentine soccer player Andrés D’Alessandro, the Swedish coach Pia Sundhage, the ex-Brazilian soccer player Rosana Augusto and the ex-Uruguayan soccer player Sebastián Abreu.

Also, the Colombian soccer player Catalina Usme, the Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade, the former Brazilian soccer player Cafu and the Brazilian surfer Italo Ferreira.

For Conmebol, the reception of the three finals by Montevideo will transform this city into “the capital of the best football in the world.”

Saturday November 20, the Centennial will host the final of the South American Cup between Brazilians Ahtletico Paranaense and Red Bull Bragantino.

Seven days later the final of the Copa Libertadores will be played there between the also Brazilian Palmeiras and Flamengo.
